Fire Pit Regulations
As owners and supervisors of the park properties in Shorewood, it is the Shorewood Sanitation Board's duty and responsibility to maintain and monitor the Fire Pit.
A survey was sent to every home in our district, and closed August 31, 2022.
The vote to keep the Fire Pit passed 11-3.
The Park Committee met September 4th, 2022, and voted to reopen the Fire Pit.
We are open to adopting the ideas our neighbors to make this utility cleaner and safer.
We thank those that have continued to maintain the level of brush by activating permits, and burning the pit from time to time, and also those who have helped clean up fallen tree limbs of this past summer in our parks. Your efforts are acknowledged and appreciated!
At the end of each fall season, we spread the ashes of the Fire Pit across the park grass to fertilize the land, and at the same time, keep the cost of this utility neutral. This method has been successful. The Park Committee will reassess the land if an issue arises, and we will either continue to use this method of eliminating the ash, or recommend another method.
The Park Committee also recommended new signage be designed and purchased. Four new signs have been placed at all four corners of the Fire Pit, stating that this is for Shorewood Residents ONLY, and that NO GRASS, and Organic Materials be placed in the pit ONLY. Please help us keep this utility clean.
Please follow these simple rules below so we can keep our Fire Pit safe and clean for everyone! If you are a member of the Shorewood Sanitation District, you are allowed to use the Fire Pit, located in the center of Shorewood Circle.
